October 9th Bronzeback Benefit Tournament.  Susquehanna River Nesbitt Park Wilkes Barre. The Suskie Bassmaster team of Rob Rosencrans and Norm Gavlick finished 4th. Fishing was decent on Saturday.  There was a front moving in Saturday night and the morning weather was clear, and calm. A beautiful October Saturday. In addition to competition between anglers, we had to compete with several local duck hunters on the water. The banging of shotguns firing was a little unnerving at times.  With the limit at 6 fish, several teams boated 4 keepers, with the rest at 3 or less.  All teams had no trouble finding smallies, boating 30-40 fish in the 10-14" range. Finding smallies in the 15" range proved tougher.       Click picture to enlarge.

This is a pike that we caught twice.  Norm hooked it on a tube with the pike cutting the line. Rob threw a crank bait right over him after he cut loose and sure enough he came right back after the crank.  After a good fight we managed to boat him for a picture.  Click the picture for a better look.  We also landed some nice walleye.

October 10th Eastern Penn-Jersey Deaf Anglers Tournament. Susquehanna River at Nesbitt Park Wilkes-Barre.  Suskie Bassmasters Rob Rosencrans and Norm Gavlick took 1st place.  The only team to boat 3 keepers.  It was a tough bite on Sunday. A cold front passed through on Saturday night and Sunday morning was calm and clear.  It started out a typical cool bluebird day after a cold front. The weather turned rough.  Clouds and wind gusting to 25 mph blew in.  Most were able to boat many smallies in the 12-14" range but finding the 15" plus sizes proved a much more difficult task.  Click on the article below to read the Times Leader article about the Sunday tournament.
