RULES COMMITTEE. A rules committee is being formed to handle rule issues and protests. Even though in over 6 years we have had no major problems and in fact have always had fun tournaments with a great bunch of anglers we do have to be prepared to handle issues that do arise in a non bias, fair and open manner. Therefore a rules committee has been proposed made up of 7 members. 3 from the board and 4 regular members, no two members that fish together. This format has enough members to always have a quorum (4) at a tournament. It also provides more regular members than board members in case of protests filed against a board member. A protest form has been proposed for filing a protest. The no wake zone rule has been added to the written rules, as well as a section on cheating. Not that there has been any issues with cheating but again we need to be prepared should it arise. In writing/establishing these rules and procedures we have read numerous rules/procedures of bass clubs around the country. We have taken the best of those and modified them to fit our club. One major difference is the rules committee. Virtually all other clubs use a "Tournament Director" for this function. That format is the standard for fishing tournament clubs. We thought using a committee weighted with members would be a more fair and unbiased method of resolving disputes among members. Even though board members and officers are members there is often a "perceived" bias in their decision making by other members. Especially if there is a protest against a board member or officer. This committee format allows for the handling of that if it arises. The rules committee will review, modify, and approve the new rule provisions. Copies of the new/revised rules will be posted on the website and handed out at the next tournament. It is every members responsibility to know and abide by the rules. ALL BOARD MEMBERS, OFFICERS, AND RULES COMMITTEE MEMBERS, MUST ALSO KNOW THE RULES AND ABIDE BY THE RULES. PROPOSED RULES HERE!
There are differences in the rules for the Wednesday Night Big Bass Elite Series tournaments and the full day team tournaments. Each set of rules are provided in pdf downloadable formats. Be sure to print the correct set of rules for the tournament(s) in which you plan to participate.
